AI Architect (Illinois) - US work visa is a must
Overview
A company is hiring a Principal AI Architect to lead the architecture of its enterprise AI platform. The role involves setting technical standards for AI design, deployment, and governance across the organization. This is a hands-on leadership position reporting to senior technical and business leaders, with a focus on delivering secure, scalable, and well-governed AI systems at enterprise scale.
Location & Work Mode
Peoria, Illinois, United States.
On-site 5 days a week.
50–60% travel to customer sites across the US.
Compensation
Base salary of $200k+.
Key Responsibilities
Own the architecture of the enterprise AI platform, including orchestration layers, LLM integration, RAG pipelines, and reusable services.
Define architectural standards, reference designs, and guardrails for AI workloads.
Translate business requirements into architecture decisions and reusable components.
Design and build production AI systems across ML, deep learning, computer vision, and LLM workloads.
Architect agentic AI systems using frameworks like LangChain and Semantic Kernel.
Work hands-on with foundation models for RAG, fine-tuning, and evaluation.
Establish CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and retraining practices for AI systems.
Build observability, reliability, and cost-management practices for production AI systems.
Embed security by design and operationalize Responsible AI principles.
Advise senior leaders on AI strategy and mentor engineers to raise technical standards.
Must Have
Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
Proven track record designing enterprise-grade AI solutions on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Fluency in Python and modern AI/ML tools like PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, and LangChain.
Demonstrated depth in ML, deep learning, computer vision, and LLMs.
Experience delivering secure, robust, and well-governed AI systems at enterprise scale.
Strong grasp of Responsible AI, model risk, and regulatory compliance.
Good to Have
Master's or PhD in a relevant discipline.
Experience with agentic/multi-agent architectures in production.
Background in regulated or safety-critical industrial environments.
Contributions to open source, patents, publications, or recognized thought leadership in AI.
Experience defining enterprise AI reference architectures adopted across teams.
Additional Information
This role offers end-to-end ownership of the enterprise AI platform, covering classical ML, deep learning, computer vision, and modern LLM systems. Compensation is highly competitive and uncapped for top candidates.
